40 Super Sleek Fonts for Clean Web Design
A few weeks ago, I showed you some of the best fonts for use in grunge style design. Creating grungy designs can be fun, but sometimes a site requires a cleaner approach, one where artsy design elements take a back seat to clear presentation of content. Typography plays a big role in this type of design. If you have been struggling to find the right font for your clean designs, here are 40 of them that are both clean and beautiful.
Museo Sans
Geo Sans Light

February 10, 2009i’ve always used Arial as a default font for folio word, now “blue highway” and “Steel fish” looks like a cool option

February 10, 2009I think you have ‘Blue Highway’ listed twice, the second time I would infer it needs to be listed as ‘Steelfish’.
There are some interesting and beautiful fonts here.

February 10, 2009Great list, but the typenazi in me has to point out that they’re typefaces, not fonts
I think Museo Sans is probably my favorite recently-developed typeface, which is odd, because I’m definitely not a fan of Museo.

February 10, 2009@jack F – All of them are free.

February 10, 2009Always enjoy lists like this! Unfortunately not all of these are free for commercial use if you read the licenses. I’ve hand-picked a bunch that are and put ‘em up here: http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/list/style/Sans%20Serif

February 10, 2009What the hell, Eurofurence is the name of a furry convention. And it seems like an odd coincidence because Euroference would be a better spelling.

February 10, 2009A decent selection, but it’s taken for granted that all of them are free. If one were willing to pay, I’m sure there’d be an even greater array of great greatness. It’s a shame that this sort of suggests that all fonts are free. People should be willing to pay a bit to achieve something more extra special.

February 10, 2009That’s a great collection of fonts. I like the Qlassik font.

February 10, 2009Nice font collection.
Guys do you have any idea what font-style the logo of this site http://mvcforge.com/ is using ?

February 11, 2009I don’t get how we can advocate using these fonts for “web design” when none of them are web fonts.
JasonTheDesigner
February 11, 2009I love the fact that WDL offers a lot of free stuff.
However this list… how can you leave out classics like Helvetica, Optima, Futura? Are they too obvious?
@Jenny: I don’ think these are meant to be used as body copy, but rather in large sizes, maybe using sIFR or something similar.

February 11, 2009You had me at Museo

February 11, 2009Your site is really amazing. Exceptional style. Cool.

February 12, 2009cool list of fonts when looked individually, now coming up with clean design is in the hands of designers on how they are gonna use them
Michael
February 12, 2009Nice list. I agree with JasonTheDesigner, these are definitely not meant to be used as body copy for web design, but probably better suited for large headlines (using sIFR) or traditional static graphics.
Henry
February 12, 2009@Michael – Thanks for pointing that out. You and Jason are exactly right. I never intended to suggest these be used for browser rendered text.

February 12, 2009What about the families of Avant Garde (http://www.fonthaus.com/products/fonts/fontfind.cfm?search=avant+garde&submit=FontFind%C2%AE) or Franklin (http://www.fonthaus.com/products/fonts/fontfind.cfm?search=franklin&submit=FontFind%C2%AE), and another classic, Gill sans (http://www.fonthaus.com/products/fonts/fontfind.cfm?search=gill+sans&submit=FontFind%C2%AE)?

February 12, 2009Thanks for the nice list of interesting fonts that show with style. Every time I see cool new design what I get disappointed is that many of them have improper side bearings and kerning, making them look awkward, without first fixing these things using a font editor… I’ve done that several times, what a large volume of work. I think that’s why people like me tend to stick with more established ones…
