DO NOT take any of the above "Do nots" to seriously or religiously.
Especialy the one about a whole page of cufon distracting a viewer...That would totally depend what font you used..And the always use websafe fonts for body text and then promoting font stacks.
Another thing, if you add 5-6 pixels to your font size to get line height you will never keep a consistent baseline grid as larger font sizes would mean larger line heights. not that that's wrong of course...you just can't have both.

I agree with you on most of this stuff, but re sans-serif in the body, I have to go with Martin and Pariah. Most serif fonts do not translate well to the screen except at large sizes as far as readability goes. The web is not print. Screens are light based, pages are not; and furthermore, print is generally 300 dpi, your computer monitor is a fraction of that.

Amen to the Comic Sans and Papyrus. I had client I designed a site for with a previous employer and she wanted all the content on the site to be Papyrus. I tried to convincer her otherwise. She insisted I had to use Papyrus and I think I cried through the whole process.

Comic Sans has its place (and so does Papyrus). It's important not to stress that people should never use it, because then they latch onto that idea and lose all sense of propriety. Just tell them gently that THEY shouldn't use it because they don't know how.

DO NOT forget to use accent characters when needed.
Typing words like Cufón numerous times on the page without the accent characters will make you look sloppy and uneducated

It is not about displaying. It's about language. Accents (and all diacritics) are part of the words. It's not a question of forgetting, It means you know how to write in the language you are writing.

So, the tip could be
"Do not forget to write 'w' in words like 'whisky'"
