Really interesting article. Some developers just don’t care about clean code anymore, and that leads to difficult systems to update in the future and hard to figure out when something goes wrong.

You’re missing a very useful tool for CSS.

Less CSS (LessCss.org) lets you greatly simplify your code:

@primary_color: #ff00ff;

.rounded_corners (@radius: 5px) {
-moz-border-radius: @radius;
-webkit-border-radius: @radius;
border-radius: @radius;
}

form {
div.field {
border-color: @primary_color;
color: @primary_color;
.rounded_corners;
}
}

You can really save yourself a lot complexity and development time.

Excellent. Thanks for this excellent post, will begin using the many tools that has been mentioned. I would also recommend the use of Kohana and Code Igniter PHP Frameworks both for a faster application development.

Having dealt with the fallout from a Cake Developed Application, i would not recommend it for anyone who is looking for a robust and scalable solution.
