6 Streetwear Brands You Should Be Wearing

Some fashion brands are better than others. That’s just a fact. And while you might be obsessed with Nike and Under Armour, does that mean they’re the best brands out there? No, it certainly doesn’t. And to be honest, those brands are trash compared to other street style companies that have been around a lot longer and made an actual influence on society. I’m not trying to piss anyone off, but here are the TRUE best streetwear brands in the game right now:

 

 

 

Supreme:

Supreme is by far one of the best streetwear brands out there. This skateboarding shop turned clothing brand, created by James Jebbia, started off as a small company in downtown Manhattan and quickly became a designers dreams. Thanks to collaborations with top luxury/streetwear brands like Louis Vuitton, Nike, and Kermit the Frog, Supreme is the brand people want to be wearing. Even celebrities like; Cara Delevingne and DJ Khaled have been pictured wearing this. Consumers don’t seem to have a problem dropping thousands of dollars if that means they get to rock a Supreme Louis Vuitton Bag (which sells for no less than $4,000, btw) and post a picture of it on Instagram.

Deer Dana:

Why is everyone so obsessed with Deer Dana? Because this streetwear brand, created by New York City artist Dana Veraldi and her partner Kevin Tekinel, has the coolest t-shirts ever. (And I’m not being dramatic.) You can buy a shirt that pays homage to Cindy Crawford (yes, the Cindy Crawford) for only $60. Ummm, yes! Cindy isn’t the only celeb getting a mention, Deer Dana pays tribute to multiple Hollywood icons by sketching their faces on the front of their shirts and adding a special touch, so no shirt looks the same. Everyone loves to feel special and unique, and Deer Dana caters very nicely to the narcissistic fashion-lover in all of us. No wonder celebrities like Jay-Z and Kristen Stewart have no problem supporting this brilliant brand.

 

Stampd:

Stampd used to be all about shoes. This company started off selling nothing but customized sneakers (expensive as hell customized sneakers, might I add) before the owner, Chris Stamp, re-vamped everything and launched new limited-edition caps, and then bags, and then other gear that created the complete line we now have access to. What I love about Stampd is how classy each streetwear piece looks. You could wear Stampd clothes to a fancy dinner and look completely in place. Marvelous. Truly marvelous. But, with any good product comes a high cost. You’d be hard-pressed to find a jacket by Stampd for under $300 but hey, you’ll look like a Lord wearing one of their denim jackets. No wonder Lord Disick (aka Kourtney Kardashian’s baby daddy) is always seen in LA wearing Stampd. 

 

Lemar and Dauley:

I want to take a moment to applaud this company for being able to stay successful, and relevant, by only supplying colorful as hell products. Seriously, if you can scroll through this website without being low key blinded by all the neon, you’re a superstar because the color is just…wow. (Did you see those neon blue shoes for only $70 on the website? I almost bought a pair for myself). But hey, it works for Lemar and Dauley. This New York-based company, created by Kareem Blair and Danial “Manhattan” Pierre was founded in 2003 and they’re still considered one of the top streetwear brands in the game – they’ve even collaborated with Reebok (which is a big freakin’ deal.)

 

 

 

 

Anti Social Social Club:

This indie clothing brand has an INSANE cult-like following. But how wouldn’t it with a name like that?! I want to be a member of the Anti Social Social Club, too. The creator of this brand, Neek Lurk, was an outcast during most of his life and that idea is what inspired this weird and unconventional streetwear brand. To be honest, this brand isn’t necessarily different than any other brand on this list. I would say they’re pretty much in the middle, in terms of cost. However, Anti Social Social Club has a huge celebrity following. Rita Ora, Brooklyn Beckham, and even Kim Kardashian have been spotted out in about wearing something from this. So, needless to say, most products go out of sale the second they drop on this website. 

 

Brain Dead:

Brain Dead is the clothing company for all the comic geeks and radical punks. Excuse my candor, but it’s true. This LA-based company, founded by Kyle Ng, creates graphic clothing that falls more under the “dark humor” section (hence the name, “brain dead”). But that’s what’s made Brain Dead so popular – they know their audience, and they appeal to their audience of not-so-mainstream-weirdos who have the funds to spend about $300 on a basic sweatshirt. 

 

Stussy:

Stussy started off as a surfboard company back in 1980, and now thanks to the creator, Shawn Stussy, the company is one of the largest American streetwear brands. This fashion brand started off in The Golden State and because of the “California vibe” the clothing and gear had, it mostly sold to wealthy hipsters and beach bums (no offense) who could spend hundreds on flannel shirts and beanies. But Stussy got the attention of people in the hip-hop scene; Chris Brown and Tyga, to name a couple, who wore the products, which helped broaden the companies horizon and turn them into such a success.

 

 

Diamond Supply Co.:

Is there a celebrity who hasn’t worn something from this brand? Wiz Khalifa, Chris Brown, and even Mac Miller have celebrated Diamond Supply Co. I mentioned earlier how people love to feel unique, right? Well, Diamond Supply Co. plays on the exact opposite, and it works! This company, created by Nick Diamond, has a very specific symbol (Hint: It’s a diamond), so everyone who sees you rocking a Diamond Supply Co. Two Tone Hat will know you spent over $30 bucks for it. And if that’s not the American dream, what is?

 

Crooks and Castles:

This LA brand was founded in 2002 by two men, Robert Panlilio and Dennis Calverowith, who had a very clear vision of who their target audience was. “Clothing for the crooks.” The word “Crooks” pays homage to pimps and hustlers. While the word “Castles” focuses on people who got rich from stealing. Which I guess is relatable to a lot of people….? Interesting. But, I digress. Crooks and Castles has a very simple and not insanely expensive (most sweatpants around $60) streetwear look which is reminiscent of fashion trends in the early 90s. Oh, and did I mention both Kanye West and Jay-Z have endorsed this brand? Need I say more?

 

 

10 Deep:

10 Deep has been around since 1995 and the founder Scott Sasso really knows what he’s doing because this company rarely makes mistakes. The experience of 10 Deep comes across not just from their clothing, but from the celebrities who happily wear their clothing; Jay-Z, Chris Brown, Kanye and Rihanna have all been seen in 10 Deep merchandise. This clothing brand really sets the trends and that’s because their products are fueled by expression and individuality. You look good, you feel good right? Hell yeah! Plus, not every 10 Deep product is crazy expensive. You can buy a hoodie for $20 something bucks or a jacket for close to $200. I love when prices vary.
