Compressor.io offers Free Image Compression in your Browser

Desktop software like Photoshop or GIMP can be useful for compressing images. But these tools are not automatic and they require some knowledge of image manipulation.

But a free webapp by the name Compressor.io can handle image compression for free without any messy settings or export features.

The impressive part about Compressor is that it can reduce an image’s size by 40%-50% or more, yet the quality seems practically unaffected. This works by stripping metadata and other information tied to image files that simply add bloated KBs onto files.

The site can support JPEG, PNG, GIF, and even SVG images.

Just visit the compression page and select your file. There’s a clean upload field for browsing that also supports drag-and-drop functionality.

Files must remain under 10MB to be processed by Compressor. Thankfully this is a very gracious limitation considering a 10MB file would already be incredibly large for the Internet.
