Posted by on Nov 3, 2011 | 25 Comments

Eventually, we’ll all stop talking about responsive web design – not because it will go away, but because it will become what’s expected. Nevertheless, the concept of responsive web design is still relatively new. So it’s our job to help you learn about it and to help you find the stuff that makes building responsive sites easier. For this post we’ve gathered a collection of Responsive Web Design Templates and Frameworks. (more…)

Design Business Books vs Design Business Blogs

Posted by on Mar 11, 2011 | 14 Comments

Filtered: A New Portfolio WordPress Theme from Theme Trust

Posted by on Feb 15, 2011 | 9 Comments

Back in October of last year, I launched Theme Trust, a shop for premium WordPress themes. Five months later, I couldn’t be more excited about where it’s at. Sales have consistently increased each month, and the amount of positive feedback from customers has been overwhelming.

Since many of you are obviously web designers, this might be perfect as a foundation for your own portfolio or your next client project. (more…)

Remember the days of the Commodore computer? Your word processor had one font family, with an italic and a boldface, if you were lucky. Designing a contrasting header to a computer-generated document required scissors and tape.

Though the output of your dot matrix printer was unmistakable and monotonous, at least you never had to sweat the aesthetics of combining type. Matching heading fonts with body fonts, accent fonts and footnote fonts can be a touchy pursuit. Even perfectly balanced fonts can look ungainly and ugly next to the wrong neighbors. If type is the most important aspect of web design, then combining type is a critical skill. (more…)
