Retro Inspiration
Retro is a word that derives from the Latin prefix retro, meaning “backwards” or “in past times”. I think extremely interesting that we look back and get inspired by designs produced a while back, or even some recent ones that use the retro style. Since Friday is always a good day to relax and browse some inspiring images, we decided to gather a list with retro inspiration to show you.
Thanks to ISO50, my number one source for retro inspiration, I discovered two amazing Flickr galleries: Advertising Hitchcock and Eric Carl. These guys have so many beautiful and inspiring retro images that I decided to gather some examples to share with you. It’s really good to pay attention to the images and notice typography, colors and shapes, this can be indeed pretty inspiring.

June 10, 2011Some beautiful poster designs, the style of some of them remind me of illustrations I used to see in old books I read as a kid; in particular The 39 and the Foreign Correspondent. All slightly spoilt though by the image of the Honda CX500 at the bottom!
