A clean and minimal design gets out of the way and lets the content do the talking, and it’s a great way to give your site an elegant and sophisticated feel.

A note of caution: some of these themes are children of parent frameworks which require paid subscriptions to install. They won’t run without the parent, so technically, they aren’t free. (Kind of a bait and switch, but a small quibble).

Minimal themes can be troublesome if you don’t know how to combine them with the proper content. Content has to stand out no matter what – that’s the point of online marketing, at least. So if you don’t have a great content, you need to highlight it by catchy an a little more complex designs. If your content is high-quality, is best to pick a minimal theme. In both cases, I prefer do make my own themes, in Lubith, because in this way I can customize them in many different ways and obtain various themes even if I use the same minimal layout.
