40 Tasty Restaurant Websites to Inspire You

Restaurant websites are a great place to find inspiring designs and also to check out some nice ways of displaying photographs within a design. Since the main content of a restaurant is their food – or at least it should be – there is no better thing to do than show beautiful images of the food. So for this post, I’ve rounded up 40 Tasty Restaurant Websites to Inspire You. You’ll notice that these restaurant web designs use images in a variety of ways to put the focus where it needs to be. Whether it’s a full background or in a slideshow, the images make it all about the food. So here we go, enjoy the tasty selection and remember that sometimes images are better than a thousand words.

You can get food photography really wrong and especially in respect of web design! But these show how good you can make it look! Good inspiration, thanks!

Any idea who did the Marie Catrib’s site? They are right around the corner from me in Grand Rapids and very tasty.

    Awesome sites btw!

    TasteSpotting. Love the title.

Culinaria: Text in the middle just does not work with the photograph; too distracting. If they can fix that, the site would look nice.

I love this list and wish I’d found it earlier for inspiration as I recently finished designing a restaurant website for a friend and at times was at a loss as to the best way to pull it all together. Excellent list and wonderful designs.

Really shows how food photography is such an integral part of a restaurant’s web site design. Without it, aside from all the other effects, it really doesn’t convey “We’re a restaurant” does it…

Most of these websites are like most advertising today: ineffective.

They “look great” but violate many rules of web usability – which causes people to leave because they CAN’T USE THEM without being frustrated.

Have you tried looking at the Daimu or Auberge de lill site on an iPhone? Do that, then tell me how “great” they are.

Giraffe and PicFresh are two that are the least-worst out of the bunch. But even they have issues.

This list looks a little bit out-of-date. Anyway, not many restaurants can afford hiring a web designer, I’m supplying for the industry and I see more and more of my clients use web solutions built specifically for restaurants (like Smart Web Restaurant or Open Table), because they don’t have time to deal with it.
