Everyone loves a gooв story. Knowing that fact, why not to use it for promotion your own brand online? Designing a site does not mean you have to create static experience only, websites are not printed products. You may do almost what you want.
With HTML5 it became easier to add animations and videos to a website background. Video as a site background dramatically changes the whole visual experience of the viewer. Some sites use videos to create a cool atmosphere, while the others show their products or services in action to tell a story. So, to give you some inspiration, I made a collection of fresh video background sites worth your attention. Feel free to open each site to see the videos.
These are so awesome, thanks for such a great share. I really like the idea of adding videos to my designs but was always worried about load time and it distracting my clients from the call to action but these all do such a great job.
Quick run through, running from work/desktop, fast connection, not the fastest of machines, running the latest version of Chrome:
> When Was the Last Time You Did Something for the First Time
just gives me a blank page
> Peel
shows the old jigsaw plug in icon behind some text so I can’t click it
> Planilandia
works but runs very jerkily, especially if you dare click on anything
> My Provence
works but when you click to start the experience its dissolves to
some more panels which hang. A bit of clicking and I get a mainly
blank screen with a click to run flash
> blacknegative
works well, but god help you if you want to cut and paste their
contact details
> getgoingtoday
hadn’t loaded beyond a dark teal screen after 3 minutes, get going
indeed
> Anders Hede Jensen
works well, a little slow in places, best so far, and you end up
with text you can select!
> Geox
yeah functions fine, but the first video is a dizzying 360 around
a moving foot/shoe that made me feel a little dizzy and that segues
into text on top of a highly blurred moving background that adds
to the nausea
> Clinica Dr. Mauro
well done, the links even work well with Google translate
> The Fernway
I’m not sure what sort of screen this is designed for, certainly it
didn’t fit well on a 16:9 desktop monitor.
Sort of gave up at that point.
Hi Andy!
Thank for your time and feedback! All the sites works fine from my side. When it comes to When Was the Last Time You Did Something for the First Time, – it’s my favourite site! This collection is fresh, I checked every website I included. Please, check out your browser settings and internet connection. Maybe some sites need to be reload (F5) due to the heavy content.
Check out our new article about how to create this type of video background https://designmodo.com/video-background-website/ Here is a tutorial about how to use youtube video for background.
I hope it will be useful.
