The creative software company Adobe has cornered a large portion of the market. Designers always have alternatives, but many of the largest firms still rely on Adobe software to this day.
This gives Adobe a certain insight into the industry that can’t always be found elsewhere. And this insight gives them a chance to build products useful to creatives like their new Adobe Portfolio.
At the moment this launch is still in early access beta, however interested people can request an invite via e-mail.
The portfolio will sync with services like Behance which allows you to showcase your work from a trusted domain.
If you look over the features page you’ll find a lot more info regarding how & why Adobe Portfolio could be seriously useful to creative professionals.
- Access Typekit’s library of fonts.
- Live editing lets you see your changes as you make them.
- Direct access: Anything you can see, you can edit.
- Preview your website responsively on desktop, tablet and mobile.
- Create projects on Portfolio or Behance and sync between the two.
- Option to disable right-click to protect your images.
- Option to enable lightbox presentation of your images.
- Use your own domain name.
If you don’t know much about building websites and need a free alternative then Behance is great. But Adobe Portfolio could offer a much more professional look when it launches at some point down the road.
I’ve got a bad feeling that it won’t launch until next year. They’re being very cagey with the launch date. Prosite has been so behind the competition for so long it had gotten difficult to hang in there.
