A new marketplace has emerged very similar to Flippa but for startups. The website Buy My Startup recently launched with a small batch of startups willing to sell.
This is a fascinating idea with the growing interest in technology and Internet businesses. Startup founders often create projects they no longer wish to maintain, or just want to buy & flip a product for money quickly. Flippa has notoriously been the only place to do this in the past, but now startup buyers/sellers have their own unique marketplace.
Buy My Startup is built on a Tumblr system which seems to be a general starting point. Since this offers a cheaper hosting setup, it allows the site to scale quickly without managing a complex backend.
Over time I hope we’ll see the BMS website grow into a much larger marketplace with full user profiles and complex ranking algorithms.
For now startup listings are simply divided into categories based on the corporate focus. These range from advertising to eCommerce and even obscure areas like biotech.
While there aren’t too many listings at the moment, the site concept is exquisite and could certainly bolster an enthusiastic audience with ease.
