The Best Icon Sets for Minimal Style Web Design

By / Jan 21, 2010 / Freebies

With so many free icon sets available now, sometimes it makes more sense to not spend countless hours designing and creating your own. However, it’s important that you do find the right style of icons to match your design. In the case of minimal web design, it’s all about clean layouts, little use of color, and few design elements. This means that when icons are required, they should posses the same minimal design qualities. Here are some of the best icon sets for this type of design style.

Excellent collection! I particularly like Free Vector Icons with its de-bossed effect and the pixel one definitely communicates the “utilities” (those important navigational elements that you just can’t remove to make your site cleaner, less cluttered and minimalistic)

Minimalism in icon design is great and I believe it is much more harder to create an interesting form when you are not allowed to use fancy gradients, colors, shiners and such. Check out dutchicon.com to see what I mean.
