The great thing about web design is that we have an enormous range of styles, techniques and ideas to implement when designing a website. You can go from Super Clean and Minimal Layouts to Colorful Layouts, and you can use Huge Typography or Hand Drawn elements, as long as you keep your style and give your website your own personality. As illustration is somewhere in between those options and is something that can give your website a very unique touch, we decided to gather a selection of illustrated websites to inspire you.
Red is a strong and powerful color, it represents passion and other strong feelings. More than that red is an ‘attention driven’ color cause it always captivate the interest of viewers. In web design is not different, red is a color that can give your website a nice and unique touch. In case you think the color is too strong to use it in the whole page, you can use it only is some elements like reader, footer, typography, logo or so on. Combining red with white and other colors can also be a great choice.
Clean websites are awesome! We all love to appreciate beautiful, elegant, minimal and clean websites. Many people think that clean and minimal websites need to be white and need to showcase as less elements and colors as possible, and I always agreed with that, but that is not actually true. And to show you that is possible to have super clean websites with some nice elements and colors, we put this selection together.
A website can hold lots of information, so an important issue is to give the main info a special attention. I always like to check out the way some websites present their ‘hot stuff’ and I have to say that lately some slideshows are really getting our attention. They can show images, images and quotes, only quotes, ideas, icons… depending on the creativity of its designer, a slideshow can hold several different formats and information, everything to catch the viewers attention to some key information they want them to read. We gather here some good examples of slideshows to inspire you.
After showing you a list of Yellow Web Designs and one of Blue Web Designs, today is time to show you a list of green websites! I have to say that when we decided to go green I thought it would be easier to get a good list, but it was pretty hard actually, I’m not sure why, but green is not a very famous color in web design or at least I had a hard time finding inspiring and beautiful green websites to show here. The thing is that green, as many other colors, can be a very good choice to give your website a nice touch. Using it at the whole background or in a couple of elements, will give your design a cool colored touch.
We already showed here a list of Yellow Web Designs and one of Blue Web Designs, but today is all about black and white. The B&W combination is great, from photography to interior design to clothes, black and white is always a good choice. Here we will show you some sites that made a very good use of this duo… Beautiful, elegant and clean pages, you will notice that sometimes having no colors around is also a very good option. Some of the pages have a detail or something in colors, but their general idea is b&w.
Another monday has come and here we are, ready to inspire you with our web design related lists! Today is all about blue… a color that personally, I love. A color that represents the oceans and the sky. Blue is also a great choice in web design, even if you use it only in a couple elements or in the whole page. You can use a gradient of different shades of blue, a blue textured background, blue typography, blue icons… there are tons of cool combinations you can do with it do give your website a stylish touch.
Hand drawn elements are a really good way to give your website a cool touch! You can do that by adding a nice hand drawn illustration to your page, a stylish hand draw font, icon, some lines, characters or any other thing you want. Hand drawn elements can give your website an informal look… they can add personality and humor to it.
In a ‘non orthodox’ way (informal way) I would say that gradients are a mix of color’s shades… you can use the same color in many shades, many shades of many colors or several other combinations you may think of. The point is that gradients are beautiful and can give your website a very unique style. You can use a cool gradient at the whole website design, or only at the header, footer or just in a couple elements of it, but I’m pretty sure about one thing: combining the right colors and shades will make you a gradient lover!
Last Friday (March, 26th), Henry posted an article with 30 Fonts Perfect for Vintage and Retro Style Design and I simply loved the first font of the list, the matchbook typefaces. By the time I saw it I could think of several good ways to use it in web design, print design on even other ways. I was so inspired that I decided to do a selection of retro and vintage websites for our weekly web design inspirational post. I really like retro and vintage stuff… websites, posters, print, adds, everything.
