Music is a daily part of the design process for most designers I know because it helps inspire. There is a variety of music streaming services available to serve creatives worldwide. Today, the largest site for video, YouTube, is stepping into the music app scene with the launch of their latest product, YouTube Music.
The video hub giant has second largest search engines falling behind Google, who also has a music product Google Play; no relation that we know of. The large, unique music catalogue sets it apart from other established music apps like Spotify or Apple Music in that the app lets you search and listen to music videos, songs, artist and albums but also audio content that is unique to YouTube like remixes, covers, lyric videos, and performances.
“No matter where you start in the app, the music will never stop. Every song you play or artist you choose will take you on an endless journey through YouTube’s music catalog. A simple tap and you’re on your way, enjoying your favorite music and discovering new artists effortlessly.”
-T. Jay Fowler, Director, Product Management
The App is free and is available for download today in the U.S. via the Google Play store or the App Store. There is also an ad free experience that allows you to listen to music offline available with a YouTube Red membership. Download the app, test the UI and share your experience in the comments below.
