How many times have you needed to copy elements from an existing document to recreate a design? Vector shapes are easy, but cross-platform shapes don’t play as nice. How do you edit anchor points from an Illustrator vector when it’s ported into Photoshop or Sketch?
This may not be a huge problem but it’s always produced a slight clogging in my workflow.
But a revolutionary new webapp named ComponentHub is looking to change up your whole design process. ComponentHub allows designers to upload their Photoshop, Illustrator, or Sketch documents and separate elements out into components.
These components are often vector-based elements that can be reused in an endless number of files. You’ll be able to sync files from Google Drive or Dropbox to have mockups automatically crawled for relevant vector elements.
If you have a team of people working in different programs then ComponentHub will save hours of time. Each component is made to work in PS, AI, and Sketch individually.
Plus each element is maintained through version control which resembles a sort-of “Git for design work”.
As of now ComponentHub is free to signup but still in early development. There’s no primary date for an official release, but many designers are getting in for an early invite at the first sign of a public release.
