The Winners of Google’s Material Design Awards

Since its introduction in 2014, The material design system has been influencing and setting the standard for clean and flat design. Since then, Google’s Material UX team has been scouting the internet in search for the best use of material design. They were humbled to find the incorporation of their designs guidelines applied across multiple different platforms.

As a result, Google decided to implement the first ever Material Design Awards. The concept behind the awards is to encourage a community of makers and designers to apply material design and recognize the excellence in user experience provided by the design. Six winners were awarded based on different aspects of material design. The Six winners and their category are as follows:

Adaptive Layouts: Pocket

Crafted Simplicity: Weather Timeline

Delightful Animation: Tumblr

Elegant Typography: NY Times – Latest News

Immersive Imagery: B&H Photo Video Pro Audio

Seamless Browsing: Pocket Casts
